School News April 11th 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians
What a week! What a term!
This week has been incredibly hard as there were a few members of staff down but, as ever, everyone rallies round, and we all help each other out. So, if you have tried to ring, or emailed in and not had a response, it is because we have had no admin support this week. Hopefully we have not missed anything. I had 48 applications for Mr Schrimshaw’s job to go through too! Interviews will be after Easter.
It has been lovely to see the sun this week and all the classes have been enjoying time out in it!
In unrelated news, we have had the worst week of attendance for quite some time. There is good news for those who have struggled with attendance over all, with a marked improvement for many. Please remember that if you have an invitation for a meeting with me about attendance, I will not be authorising absences because of illness without a medical note. This is to ensure that any persistent illness that impacts your child's learning is addressed appropriately by the health board. We are on course to meet the whole school target of 95%, but looking at the absence request forms, I fear term-time holidays may scupper the good work we have already achieved.
Finally, a huge thanks to Rev’d Josh and Rev’d Ashleigh, recent additions to the Diocese of St Asaph (and parents to Abigail) for the Easter Egg gifts they presented to the children. Not sure how many of them made it home, but I thought you would like to know of their kindness and Easter blessings.
I wish you all the most relaxing Easter. Looking forward to the start of the next term to being able to share with you the news from Estyn.
Kindest regards,
Mr Redgrave
