As we come to the close of another school year, we take a moment to reflect on the growth, learning, and achievements of our children. It has been a year filled with challenges and triumphs, and we are incredibly proud of every student who walked through a school gate filled with curiosity and determination.

Regular attendance at school is not just a legal requirement—it is a crucial foundation for a child’s educational development, social growth, and long-term success. Each day of school missed represents a lost opportunity to learn, engage with peers, and build the skills necessary for future achievement.

Denbighshire County Council recognises that there may be exceptional circumstances that require a child to be absent, and schools are equipped to assess and authorise such situations appropriately. However, taking holidays during term time or permitting avoidable absences undermines both the learning process and the efforts of teachers to deliver a consistent and uninterrupted education.

By promoting consistent attendance and actively supporting families where necessary, the Council is working in partnership with schools, families, and the community to ensure every child in Denbighshire has the best possible chance to reach their full potential.
