Week 4 zooms by!

Huge thanks to our cross country runners who represented our school this week. It was lovely seeing them being so supportive of all the other runners in the race.

I would like to take a moment to address a couple of things which concern me. The first is the number of incidents that happen in the park outside of school at the end of the day. It is always good for us to be informed if things have happened. However, we are unable to take any action if it is outside of school. Nor is it indicative of how the children are inside the school. I know the park is adjacent to the school, but it is as much of our jurisdiction as the park on the estate or the one by the river. Please, do, keep letting us know of incidents so that we can make sure there is no overspill in school.

We had a meeting with a group of parents regarding rough play in school. We held this meeting so that the pupils know we work in partnership with parents and need your buy-in to help us when the children are not listening to the safety message we give. They are more than adequately supervised but do not listen to the staff outside when they are told to stop playing rough. The only way a school can be successful is if the parents support the school in the messages we give – especially around health and safety.

To finish, I have a little bit of news concerning an invitation I have had. As you know, we have a very successful partnership with Bangor University Confucius Institute, who teach our learners Mandarin. They have invited me to visit China to look at the education system in China in a variety of settings, including ALN, with a focus on how AI is being used effectively in schools. I was supposed to visit in 2020, but I am pretty sure a thing happened which stopped me! Therefore, I will be away the week before half term but still very much working.

Have a wonderful weekend. Mr Redgrave
