Dear Parents and Guardians
Once again, this week, in our collective worship, the children have been discussing how important it is to have some down time, especially away from screens. We had a think about how busy our lives are and how we can be distracted from having a time out. Taking time to sit quietly has a positive physical and mental affect. We have also been looking at the importance of learning good sleep hygiene and you can find more of that in this newsletter.
Attendance, on the whole, is going well in most classes. I work closely with some parents where there are issues for their children attending school. However, there are still some families who are not working with me and, as a result, their children are missing a lot of school. This is reflected in the overall class attendance - but it would be unfair of me to criticise this this week due to persistent non attendance, but it shows the affect one or two pupils can have on class and school attendance.
You have seen the letter from the Head of Education. Attendance is a top priority for Denbighshire and they are supporting schools in their approach on those families who are NOT engaging with their school and for whose children's attendance is less than 95%. Therefore, I urge you to engage with me in order to help you with your child’s attendance.
Rightly, you hold us to account for things that go on in school. In this newsletter there is a piece about the importance of reading with your child. Please could we ask that you spend at least 15 minutes once a week reading with your child.
This is my final newsletter of this half term as next week I will be in China. Any issues please, as always, see your child’s class teacher and our Deputy Head is on hand, Mrs Subacchi, if there are any pressing matters.
See you in November!
Have a wonderful weekend. Mr Redgrave
